Bob Crosby Meets Ellington
The Bob Crosby orchestra tries up to date swing, circa 1942, with all sorts of interesting Ellingtonish effects in the background, and the usual group of better than you remember soloists trying to make sense of the material. Very nice clarinet and Tommy Dorsey type trombone make the piece, but the orchestra's sense of discomfort is palpable.
